“Miss, how come my gift is pink? I’m a boy!”
That innocent, adorable question from one of the children made our whole team burst into laughter. Yet within that laughter was pure joy, excitement, and heartfelt appreciation from the little ones for each Mid-Autumn gift they received. Every sparkling eye was a gentle reminder — that happiness often comes from the simplest things.
Amid the cheerful lantern procession, Maries once again returned to the 500-year-old Lepironia weaving village, where local women continue to devote their days to the humble craft of weaving natural grass. This year marks the third consecutive time that Maries has proudly served as the main sponsor of the Mid-Autumn Festival at Dong My Hamlet (Pho Trach – Huế) — joining hands with local leaders and villagers to bring laughter and joy to the children of the craft village.
From the twinkling lanterns lighting up the village paths to the bright giggles echoing in the community yard, the Mid-Autumn Festival was not just a celebration for children — it was also an opportunity for Maries to continue its journey of sharing and connection, walking side by side with the craft village where traditional values are lovingly preserved day after day.
Three Moons, One Steadfast Heart
For three years in a row, Maries has kept its promise to return to Dong My. Despite the busy production seasons and market fluctuations, each Mid-Autumn, we always find our way back — bringing simple yet heartfelt gifts filled with love.
In this low-lying area often affected by floods, the villagers remain resilient with their age-old craft of weaving Lepironia mats — a laborious trade, yet one rich with pride and heritage. For Maries, the Mid-Autumn Festival is not only about giving gifts, but also about sending a message:
“When we keep the flame of craftsmanship alive together, the light of hope will never fade.”
The gifts given each year carry more than fleeting joy — they are gestures of encouragement, affirming that today’s efforts are the seeds for tomorrow’s growth.
In the innocent eyes of the children holding their lanterns high, we see the future of the craft village.
Each child is like a young bamboo shoot, carrying new hope and vitality — the next generation that will keep the Lepironia craft alive, adapting through time yet staying true to its roots.
And that is what gives Maries the strength to believe — that our journey with the craft village is not only a story of the present, but also a promise for the future. 🌙
From Lepironia Strands to a Green Dream
Since late 2020, Maries has embarked on a mission to develop the Green Fashion movement — purchasing raw Lepironia materials from local artisans, designing, producing, and introducing handmade Lepironia products to domestic and international markets.
It is more than a business endeavor; it is a commitment to create stable livelihoods and restore confidence in the craft community.
With Maries, villagers have dared to expand their raw material areas.
With Maries, they believe the traditional craft finally has a stable future.
And with Maries, they trust that a Vietnamese enterprise can grow sustainably — with both heart and responsibility.
The Full-Moon Festival — Smiles of Hope
On this year’s “Lantern Night,” hundreds of lanterns lit up the small village roads.
The beating of the lion drums mixed with the cheerful laughter of children, reviving the nostalgic yet heartwarming spirit of a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival.
The children received gifts, joined the moon feast, and paraded their lanterns around the village cultural hall.
As for us — the Maries team — simply watching them was enough to fill our hearts with warmth.
In every smile, we saw faith in a brighter future for the craft village, where skilled hands continue to weave the soul of Việt Nam from the humble Lepironia grass of Huế.
Three Mid-Autumns, three years of companionship — yet Maries holds onto one unwavering belief:
Sustainable development only carries meaning when it begins from compassion.
And with every full moon that passes, Maries will continue returning to Dong My — to share, to connect, and to keep the moon of hope shining bright. 💚🌕
