Empowering Creative Entrepreneurs in World Heritage Sites Through Digital Marketing and Content Creation
Continuing our journey with the Creative4Mekong project, Maries was honored to represent Vietnam in a 5-day regional training on Digital Marketing and Content Creation for creative businesses operating in world heritage sites.
Organized by the Mekong Institute (MI) and funded by the Mekong–Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF), the program brought together 22 outstanding representatives from five iconic heritage cities in the region: Siem Reap (Cambodia), Luang Prabang (Laos), Bagan (Myanmar), Ayutthaya (Thailand), and Hue (Vietnam).
💡 Creativity – A Bridge Between Heritage and the Future
As a social enterprise specializing in traditional handicrafts made from lepironia grass, Maries constantly seeks innovative ways to promote local values through modern technology.
Focusing on strengthening the digital capacity of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), artisans, and the creative community, the training provided practical insights to:
-
Tell better stories about products and brands through digital content
-
Understand customer behavior and evolving digital platforms
-
Develop tailored marketing strategies for craft, culture, and tourism products
From theory to hands-on practice, participants learned how to create engaging content and build digital strategies suited for both domestic and international markets.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director of the Mekong Institute, emphasized:
“Cultural wisdom is deeply rooted in our communities. Digital capability is the tool that allows us to preserve and share this treasure with the world.”
🇻🇳🇹🇭Learning from Practice – Inspired by Pioneering Models
Maries and fellow trainees had the opportunity to visit:
-
Isan Creative Festival – A hub for innovative local initiatives
-
Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) – A cradle of ideas blending tradition with modern design
-
“Sin Sai” model in Baan Sa Wat Thi – A standout example of sustainable community branding
These field trips opened up new perspectives on how traditional values can be reimagined through modern tools, creating appealing, friendly, and long-lasting cultural products and services.

🌍 From Hue to the World – Creativity as a Sustainable Bridge
This training is part of a broader initiative Maries has engaged in with Creative4Mekong, following the Mekong-Korea exchange visit in December 2024. Both events share a common message:
Creativity is not just about the end product – it’s about how we preserve identity and unlock sustainable development opportunities for our communities.
Maries will continue to blend tradition with innovation, bringing Vietnamese handcrafted products made from lepironia grass closer to global markets. We aim to contribute to a vibrant, connected, and identity-rich regional creative ecosystem – ready for the digital future.
